I had the same problem. I went to another site and they had this answer and it worked for me........try it. "I set a pattern and forgot it and I had my gmail account thru my phone and not my pc. What I did was turn off my phone. connect it to my pc with the usb. Then turn your phone back on. I did it while I was on my regular google account and it let me have full access to my captivate. I then went to my gmail account on my phone, found my gmail address and pass word, wrote it down, then shut my phone off. I unhooked the usb cord and turned it back on. It went straight back to the "too many pattern attempts" screen. I then put my gmail address and password in and it let me right in. Hope this helps anyone. It drove me nuts figuring it out."

1) Make call to your phone (locked phone).
2) Answer it .....this will leave phone unlock till the time you are on call, don't disconnect the call.
3) while on dummy call ...go to 'Installed application' folder on your mobile and uninstall it.
eg in Nokia N8 -> settings -> application manager -> locate the maze lock -> press and hold -> un install .
-You will get notification it's been used by other application but click on 'ok'  to force remove it.

Phone Does Not Answer" you have the wrong COM port. Click "Disconnect" select the next COM port number and repeat until you see a bunch of info pop up on the left. 8. I was not able to pull the unlock code by clicking "Read", I had to use the one of the 3 buttons under the "DM Mode" Section. The button "LGDM" worked for me, I honestly don`t know what the other 2 do. 9. Look to your left and WALA! you should have an unlock code displayed. 10.  Someone said: that happend to my bb then i opened it up and found that theres a plastic covering over the button on the circuit board which was puncherd. so to make urs work u need to open it up and see what the plastic   casing is like on the actual button on the circuit board if it  is riped just take of all plastic casing off the buttons which dont work and hopefully once u put it back together it should work because it worked for me
							

The mute button is on the top. It doubles as the play/pause media button
