you should follow these step as.. 1.. you first switch your receiver device on 2..you should press the aux mode button and continue to hold it and then press the * key and then you select the single power button on your remote 3.. press the arrow showing the up button again and again and your device will switch off and then you press the # button. the job is simply done. Yes but you will only receive the non-HD signals. The HD Dish has two receivers connected to the dish which are then combined into a single cable via a "switch-box" located usually on or near the dish installation point. If you upgraded to 6131 HD Bell or someone should have explained you needed and upgrade to the dish installation ?

Jan.2-2010 I just activated the Bell 6131 receiver, I add on external Hard Drive to the USB port on the back of the receiver, The hard drive must have its own power supply, Or also the receiver doesn’t work with his own power to the Hard Drive, and soon the receiver recognizer the Hard Drive, on option will pop up to have a format and click yes to do it, soon after that, follow the instructions and will be ready to recording, Notice: the 6131 receiver has a single tuner, only you can recording the same channel the receiver its tune in ,that’s mean you can not watch one channel and recording a different channel, How To using the PVR: from your Remote Control press MENU key pad, then # 4 ,and PVR from your Remote Key pad and just follows instructions to these options according to your need of the channel ,time, date, and the show you want to recording and enjoy. I just want to make clear This is my first time trying also, I did programmed for tomorrow Jan 3-2010 and still myself I don’t know the result yet, I true believe it will working, Excuse my English grammatical, I just learn on my own, my school educational was in Italy, The English it is my second language.

i believe the 6100 does not have the ability to become a PVR by adding an external hard drive.
