Products or instrumentation equipped with a touch screen normally require a calibration routine upon power up because it is difficult to perfectly align a touch screen`s coordinates with those of the display underneath it. Calibration is necessary when the coordinates of the area touched on the screen are not sufficiently close to the coordinates on the display. Without proper calibration, software may not respond correctly when a soft button or icon is pressed. The majority of these errors can be attributed to electrical noise, scaling factors, and mechanical misalignments. Resistive touch screens are more prone to this kind of errors that is why we see calibration methods in those phones. In case of Capacitive touch screens the errors are less compared to Resistive touch. But still due to electrostatic discharge and electromagnetic pulses causes minor errors in Capacitive touch also. Three point and Five point are the general methods used to calibrate the touch screens.

this happened to me too and i figured out the only way to fix it was to squeeze the phone really hard inbetween the palms of my hands. i know it seems like you might crack the screen but you wont and it makes the touch screen work again. hope that helps!

Someone said: In my case, squeezing the phone didn't do anything at all... I only began to achieve something, after i bended it, really hard, in two opposite corners at each time. First some buttons started working, then i repeted the process, applying each time more strength and changing between opposite corners until it finally made a small crack noise and began to work properly again. In the end the phone ended up a little like a banana but it's working like new. Thanks a lot, saved my day.

I was having the same problem with the calibration wizard running whenever I turned the phone back on. I read about using a stylus (and NO, one doesn`t come with the phone so I used a pen with the nib retracted) and it said `done` immediately whereas before, I was using my thumb to press those annoying little squares popping up in the corner and the centre of the phone - over and over and over again.
