No she doesn`t have to claim you. And if she does claim you, just have her give you the money she gets for claiming you. Bottom line, if you worked and paid for yourself to live than she can`t claim you. Even if you live with her, if you are still paying your own way and or contributing to living expenses in the home you are still an independent. But, if your mom is paying for you to live and the money you make working is spent on going out, clothes and stuff like that just let her claim you. It is expensive caring for another human being. A good person to check with about this would be your financial aid officer in the financial aid dept. of your school. And my advice is don`t max out your student loans. It makes it a lot harder after you graduate to live and pay loans off. ;)

It is a yes, if any of the following applies:
-your daughter is 21 years old and below
-your daughter lived with you for a whole year
-you supported your daughter financially for a whole year

It is a No if the following applies:
-your daughter earned that much money
-lived on her own

Our CPA stated that as long as she was living at home and a full time student. We could only claim her tuition since she could not be claimed as a dependent since she was ovr 16 yrs old. She can also fill her own return and she should get money back.

Yup her parents can claim her as long she is living with them, she does not claim herself as a dependent and her husband does not claim her.

Your mother has the right to claim you as a dependent , because you are not employed and she looks after you.

Yes you can claim it because you are his guardian and its he is over staying to your home.

No, he is over 18 and is able to earn a living. He can claim himself on his tax form.

Yes, you can claim him as dependent because his the job was on temporary bases.
